The global hospitality giant Accor is expanding it's plant-based menu offerings across its hotels in the Americas, aiming for 100% plant-based options coverage in the coming years. Currently, 72% of Accor’s properties in the region offer plant-based dishes, marking a major milestone toward the company's goal of zero footprint by 2050.
The move aligns with Accor’s "Good Food Feels Great" initiative, which aims for 50% plant-based options on global menus by 2030. “Expanding plant-based dishes allows us to lower our carbon emissions significantly,” said Antonietta Varlese, Senior VP of Sustainability and Communication for Accor Americas in a release.

Accor's plant-based push is part of a larger trend across the hotel industry. Hilton, for instance, has pledged to cut its emissions intensity by 61% by 2030. The hotel group also recently introduced more vegetarian and vegan menu items as part of its Travel with Purpose program, which aims to halve its food waste and water usage by 2030.
Similarly, Marriott International is working toward a 30% reduction in overall carbon emissions by 2025 and has begun rolling out plant-based options across its hotels globally, often highlighting these as part of their eco-friendly dining options.

With over 5,300 hotels worldwide, Accor’s approach reflects an industry-wide shift towards sustainability, setting a benchmark for eco-friendly dining within global hospitality.
According to The Plant-Based Foods Association, incorporating plant-based menu items across the hospitality sector could reduce the industry's carbon footprint by up to 50%, signalling a significant impact on global sustainability efforts.
