Aldi’s ‘Dubai Chocolate’ Ice Cream Hits UK Freezers

listen icon

Aldi, UK has just dropped a supermarket-first in the form of Dubai Chocolate Style Ice Cream, riding the viral wave of Middle Eastern-inspired indulgence blowing up across TikTok and global food circles. While this product is not plant-based it's the notion to capture this unique flavouring which is this story.

The chain’s new Gamberina-labelled tub blends chocolate, pistachios, and golden sprinkles scream “dessert, but make it rich.” Inspired by Dubai’s luxe dessert culture - think pistachio-drenched gelato, cardamom truffles, and gold leaf toppings - this supermarket version taps into the aspirational luxury trend without the price tag.

It follows recent buzz from Asia and the Gulf, where pistachio-rich “Dubai chocolate” desserts have become a social media sensation. Once a niche flavour, pistachio is now the marker of premium. Throw in chocolate and a hint of something exotic (saffron? rose? cardamom?) and you’ve got 2025’s answer to salted caramel.

This isn’t just flavour, it’s aesthetic. Green and gold with a side of luxury branding? Gen Z eats that up. Expect more. Frozen bars, cookies, mousse pots, even a McFlurry remix could be next. Aldi’s move marks a shift as global dessert trends are no longer trickling down, they’re arriving at speed, tubbed and shelf-ready. The next development might also be a fully plant-based icecream, then all our needs would be met.

If Dubai Chocolate is today’s frozen flex, tomorrow’s might just be Kuwaiti Rose, Turkish Tahini Swirl, or Saudi Date Latte. Watch this space.
