Angel Food a New Zealand-based company, has met the demand of plant-based consumers by introducing their dairy free sour cream in Countdown supermarket stores across the nation next week.
The launch will encompass all 160 Countdown locations throughout New Zealand, catering to the increasing demand for dairy free options. Notably, Countdown is part of the Woolworths supermarket group from Australia.

The Angel Food Sour Cream is described as smooth, creamy with a slight sourness in keeping with its dairy-based cousins. Possessing the same 'wet' characteristics as its dairy counterparts, this non-dairy alternative will have its uses, says the company, in the same way when applied to baked potatoes and nachos, as well as a base for vegan dairy free dips such as carrot based lox and smoked carrot salmon.

The Sour Cream launch replaces the delayed launch of the Angel Food plant-based Feta which the company says has been unavoidable and is now slated for launch 'sometime in August'. Whilst some followers on social media have expressed disappointment in the feta delay, the company says it will be worth the wait.
These two new additions to the Angel Food plant-based, non-dairy cheese lineup positions the company and its products at front and centre of the emerging New Zealand non-dairy cheese sector.

Angel Food will be exhibiting its food service range of non-dairy vegan cheeses at the upcoming trade only Fine Food NZ show at the Auckland show grounds 25th to 27th June.
