Emirates Airlines has announced a re-focus on innovative in-flight vegan food options. Catering to the growing number of vegan travelers and a significant portion of non-vegan passengers opting for lighter, plant-based meals, Emirates is reshaping in-flight dining with exceptional creativity, sustainability, and taste.

To mark Veganuary 2025, the global movement celebrating the benefits of plant-based diets, Emirates’ culinary experts from the Flight Catering Concept Development Kitchen have excelled creating new and delicious plant-based dishes.

Among the highlights are a legume-based solid egg substitute, transformed into a spicy shakshuka, and vegan pastry sheets re-imagined into savoury cannelloni.

The airline’s extensive vegan menu, spanning over 300 recipes, includes plant-based proteins from international suppliers such as Beyond Meat in California, vegan chocolate from France, and almond milk from Italy. Emirates also partners with Bustanica, the world’s largest vertical hydroponic farm, to source pesticide-free leafy greens.

Recognising the need for inclusive dining, Emirates has also introduced child-friendly vegan meals. Young travelers can enjoy dishes like vegan pizza, sweet and sour vegetable casserole, and desserts such as strawberry crumble and vegan chocolate pudding.

In-flight and lounge dining is equally exciting, with vegan options available in all classes and on high-demand routes, even as part of the standard menu.

Emirates now serves over 400,000 plant-based meals annually, reflecting growing demand in regions like Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. For Economy Class passengers, favourites include crêpes filled with sautéed vegetables and chocolate mousse cake. Premium Economy guests can savour braised mushrooms in five-spice soy sauce, followed by raspberry tonka mousse cake.

Business and First Class take vegan dining to an elevated level, offering dishes like Thai red curry tofu and creamy polenta cake with thyme mushroom ragout. Desserts are a showstopper, featuring creations like rhubarb and strawberry charlotte with Chantilly cream.

Also at Dubai International Airport, Emirates' lounges cater to vegan preferences with standout options. Popular dishes include Baharat-spiced kofta in coconut gravy and the signature Emirates Green Burger, a soya and flaxseed patty with pickles and a secret sauce.

Whether dining in-flight or at the airport lounge, passengers can experience a journey full of flavour and innovation like no other. Passengers can pre-order vegan meals up to 24 hours before departure, ensuring a tailored culinary experience that delights every traveler.
