Meet DUG® - The World’s First Potato-Powered M!lk!

DUG is a Swedish brand with its roots in science and research by Professor Eva Tornberg at Lund university.

DUG uses patented emulsion technology and according to the brand, its sole motivation for existence is 'pure-sustainability'.



DUG appears to be a hybrid mix of potato and pea protein containing only 1.3% protein.

The company - Veg of Lund - says DUG has a low climate footprint of

0.27 kg CO2e/kg.


Right now DUG comes in three varieties :

  • Original

  • Barista

  • Unsweetened

Currently DUG is only available in the UK, Ireland and Sweden where it is produced.


What do the public think and feel about DUG?


Well this remains to be seen but already DUG Drinks on Facebook has garnered more than 10,000 followers. LINK HERE



The (im)purests will most likely already have an opinion but for this editor's liking I think this product has some milage, not just from the sustainability factor but also the apparent diverse cooking application. Their UK FB page has some excellent posts from Chef types who are already espousing its usability.


'Pouring Potatoes Good For Planet Earth'. Might take a while to not only build brand awareness, which we think is very original - DUG - along with customer usability to rap up. In this day and age though, expect anything to happen.
