Mosa Meat has successfully conducted its first formal tasting in the Netherlands of its cultivated beef burger, the "Mosa Burger". The event marked the first time a cultivated beef product is tasted in the European Union following the introduction of a new "code of practice" in 2023. This code allows for the tasting of cultivated foods under controlled conditions prior to receiving EU-wide sales approval.

The exclusive tasting event was attended by Dutch cattle farmers, food product developers, and industry representatives, providing a unique platform to assess the market readiness of Mosa Meat's products and to gather valuable feedback for further product enhancement.
Participants, including those who typically abstain from meat, praised the Mosa Burger for its authentic taste and texture. One attendee expressed, "The burger really tasted like meat. Usually, I don't eat meat, but I miss the taste of meat a lot, and this is the way to ultimately add it back to my diet, I hope." Another echoed similar sentiments, saying, "I thought the burger was delicious. It was juicy, nice, and succulent."

Maarten Bosch, CEO of Mosa Meat, says the importance of such innovation cannot be over stated in the face of Earth challenges, saying via social media, "To avoid the worst-case scenarios, we have to lean into protein diversification as a climate strategy." This event not only highlights Mosa Meat's commitment to sustainability but also signals a significant step forward in the acceptance and normalisation of cultivated meat products.
While current tasting opportunities for cultivated products remain selective, Mosa Meat invites chefs, professional tasters, and food product development professionals to engage in this culinary revolution by signing up at mosameat.com/taste. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional meat consumption and future food sustainability.
