Australia's, giant Sydney Markets have once again showcased the crucial role played by fruit, vegetable, and flower retailers and wholesalers in supporting the city's vast population, equivalent in size to New Zealand. Held at the ICC Sydney, the 2024 Fresh Awards ceremony honoured the outstanding contributions of individuals and businesses in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

The event recognised 22 winners from a remarkable pool of 89 finalists across various categories. The awards recognise the critical importance of Sydney's fresh produce and floral sectors in maintaining the health and vitality of its urban population.

Highlights from the night included top honours in the 'Wholesaler of the Year' category, which went to Lemdell, and 'Produce Grower of the Year', claimed by D Fresh Produce. In the floral sector, East Coast Wildflowers was celebrated as the 'Flower Grower of the Year'. Florist of the Year was 'The Little Garden'.

The judging process involved a rigorous mystery shopper program, where businesses were evaluated based on the quality and freshness of their produce, customer service, industry knowledge, store appearance, and innovation.
