Veganz Unveils Game-Changing OrbiFarm Technology for Supercharged Pea Protein Farming

Get ready for a revolution in food production! Germany's Veganz Group, in partnership with Körber Technologies, has launched the OrbiFarm technology, designed to transform the way we grow and harvest proteins. Imagine pea plants yielding twice the peas compared to traditional farming and harvested six times a year!l? The growing process ensures a steady, efficient supply of high-quality pea protein, all grown indoors under controlled conditions.

The OrbiFarm® technology isn't just about higher yields, it's about smarter, more sustainable farming. Every part of the plant, from the peas to the roots, is used, significantly boosting overall efficiency and reducing waste. This method of vertical protein farming will have specific application in regions where traditional agriculture struggles due to harsh climates.

“Climate change and uncontrollable environmental influences present us with increasing challenges worldwide in the cultivation of basic foods. With the OrbiFarm®, we have created an economically sensible solution for food security,” says Jan Bredack, CEO of Veganz. This means more reliable access to nutritious, plant-based proteins, no matter where you are in the world.

Veganz took has signed a contract with Körber Technologies to bring this innovative solution to market. The partnership aims to produce and distribute the patented OrbiFarm® technology, turning years of research with the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME into a reality. The first industrial-scale prototype is already up and running at the Fraunhofer Institute in Aachen.

Dr. Jan-Gerd Frerichs, Head of Future Farming at Körber Technologies, highlights the impact of this collaboration: “We are pleased to be able to take this essential step in the production of pea protein together with Veganz. With our decades of expertise in machine and plant engineering, Körber makes a decisive contribution to the fact that the OrbiFarm® technology for the cultivation of basic foodstuffs anywhere in the world can be realized on an industrial scale.”

This development promises not only to enhance global food supply but also to pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future.
