This year’s awards saw over 300 entries from 91 companies, with 64 finalists making the cut. These finalists were selected based on their innovation, quality, and ability to meet diverse consumer needs, ranging from convenience foods to products tailored for specific dietary requirements.
Head Judge Kay McMath praised the submissions for their high quality and the detailed storytelling of each product’s journey, which provided insight into the innovation, market appeal, and sustainability practices of the finalists.
"Innovation is truly thriving among our producers, ensuring our consumers are constantly being presented with a fantastic range of new, updated and even recycled foods", says Kay McMath.
This year, Feliz Wholefoods' Vutter Non-Dairy Avo Spread is turning heads in both the "Artisan" and "Chilled" categories. Vutter, a unique avocado-based spread, stands out for its commitment to sustainability and consumer health, offering a dairy-free alternative both delicious and versatile.

As the finalists gear up for the October 10th gala dinner in Auckland, Vutter's inclusion highlights a growing trend towards plant-based alternatives in the New Zealand food industry. This trend is driven by increasing consumer demand for products that align with health and environmental sustainability values.
The winners of the ten categories, including the Supreme Award, will be announced at the gala, where the best of New Zealand’s food and beverage products will be celebrated.
